Cor spent most of his life living in Doma. He's old enough to remember when it was still free...and when it was first conquered - right around the time he presented as an Alpha. And seeing how all the Garlean Alphas treated all of the Omegas of his people? It really made him quick to decide to be Good and Helpful to said Omegas.
It also gave him extra desire to hone his skills as a samurai, and it served him well during the initial uprising - well enough, at least, to save so many people and get them onto the ships that Lady Yugiri commandeered for their group. Then it was off to Eorzea, and the difference was as night and day on how people in general were treated. They were more...free, overall, especially the people of Mor Dhona.
Especially the Scions. Especially their champion, their Warrior of Light. Sensing early on that this was an Omega, he was surprised and a little concerned that the one lone Alpha of the Scions - Thancred - was not bonded or even bothering to aid their dear Champion like a Good Alpha should. At least, in Cor's mind.
Which is why he joined the Scions officially, to try and help Khaishan as much as he could. And while he did not have the Echo, and thus could not help him fight off any primals? Cor can at least fight alongside him for all other battles, and help shield him from the worst of blows.
It's at a campsite one evening, during one of their minor missions, that he's bandaging the Aura's arm after a long day's work. "It's a good thing you moved when you did - otherwise, you'd be without an arm this evening."
